Each Meta Quest Pro comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It has 10 high-res sensors (five inside the headset and five outside) for the users to experience a full-color mixed reality and virtual world. While the device features a 106º horizontal and 96º vertical field-of-view, its screens offer a decent 1800 x 1920 pixels per eye and a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz. Further, Meta Quest Pro replaces the Fresnel lenses in Meta Quest 2 with thin pancake optics that fold light several times over, thereby reducing the size of the headset by 40% while delivering 37% more pixels per inch and 10% greater pixels per degree than Meta Quest 2. It has a 25% improvement in full-field visual sharpness in the center view, a 50% improvement in the peripheral region, and a 1.3X larger color gamut than Meta Quest 2. Thanks to its pancake lenses and a curved-cell battery located at the back of the device, the Meta Quest Pro is the slimmest and most balanced VR device ever made by the company. Moving further, the headset has two LCD displays that use local dimming and quantum dot technology to offer richer and more vivid colors. This is made even better by the company’s local dimming technology, which controls more than 500 individual LED blocks individually to give displays 75% more contrast. Moreover, the high-resolution outward-facing cameras capture 4X as many pixels as Meta Quest 2’s external cameras, unlocking a high-definition, full-color mixed reality experience. Meta Quest Pro features a continuous lens spacing adjustment mechanism, housing inter-pupillary distances (IPDs) between 55mm and 75mm. It is designed with an open periphery that allows users to use peripheral vision to interact with virtual content while remaining aware of their physical surroundings. Users can use magnetic partial light blockers to immerse themselves in select experiences. The device also has sensors to capture facial expressions and eye tracking. For instance, raise an eyebrow, smile, or simply make eye contact with someone, and the avatar will do the same. Coming to the controllers, the Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers have three built-in sensors in each controller to track users’ position in 3D space independent of the headset, offering a full 360-degree range of motion. This ensures stable tracking across all supported VR apps. The controllers come with a TruTouch Haptics system as well as rechargeable batteries. It can be charged with the charging dock and 45W USB-C power adapter that is included in the Meta Quest Pro. In terms of audio, the Meta Quest Pro comes with 360-degree spatial audio, a built-in mic, and dual left/right 3.5mm headphone jacks. The headset provides roughly two hours of use on a full charge.
